Epic “Good Time”-Doctor Who Parody
Apr 14This is pretty darn brilliant parody of “Good Time” by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen from Not Literally, “Travelling Through Time” with Doctor Who! Enjoy!

The HOMOBROS and “Gay” vs. “Camp” Culture
Feb 26The video above is actually really hilarious. It’s a little rap song that “explores the humor in the ironic situation of two homophobic homosexuals.” It’s how two “straight” bros are you know, just sleeping together and love each other, but they’re totally not gay.
It touches on a point that I discussed quite a lot the other day with one of my straight girlfriend’s boyfriend. He was trying to wrap his head around homosexuality – not in the sense of that he was bigoted and didn’t accept homosexuality or anything like that, more that he was trying to understand the psychology of it. And the psychology, origins, and growth of the “gay culture” and the stereotypes surrounding homosexuality and how that affects gay men today.
See I prefer to call what is commonly termed “gay culture” as “camp culture”. Because, in the end, being gay doesn’t mean you like Lady GaGa or gesticulate with dramatic flair every time you speak. I feel like those who are camp have kind of taken the term “gay” and applied it to their personality traits. But really, to be gay simply means that you are more sexually attracted to men – it shouldn’t imply anything about your personality.
Unfortunately, homosexuals themselves seem to perpetuate this concept of gay = camp. Anyone who’s ever been on Grindr or any other gay male geo-location app will have seen the term “straight acting”. To me, that just seems like a ridiculous thing to say. It reinforces the idea that when you’re gay, you have to explicitly state that you are not camp – reinforcing the association with camp culture and homosexuality. And don’t think that by saying you’re a “straight acting gay man” that you’re trying to show that there’s diversity in homosexuals. If you really wanted to do that, then you’d go around calling yourself gay and just act the way you normally act. Why do you feel the need to label your personality with a sexuality?
What do you gay geeks and otherwise think about this whole idea? Are we shooting ourselves in the foot or does using the term “straight acting” help the mainstream realise not all gays are camp?

Mumbai Queer Flash Mob [Video]
Feb 23I don’t think I’ve ever quite been so proud to be of Indian descent. This is such an epic flashmob. I think my favourite part is at 3.22 when it does the classic thing from Hindi movies with the girl and guy…and then they switch up and have two guys and two girls dancing together. It made me smile. And the chanting right at the end. Not to mention they use Starships! I love that song…it came on about four times when I was at the Carnaval in Tenerife, and I went nuts every time.
So yeah, I enjoyed that video. Any other geysis (gay desis) feeling just a little prouder right now?
