But who is Josh?
Josh is the nickname he earned in high school because of his close resemblance to a typical jock (you know, Josh, Kyle, Brody, etc are universal jock-names).
But in truth, Josh is nothing like a jock in many ways. Josh doesn’t possess the cockiness or aggressive competitiveness typically found among jocks. He’s really quite easy going and when he does win a competition, he only feels bad for making the other team lose. He doesn’t guzzle meats and steroids to ‘pump iron’; he eats a well balanced diet. And instead of chasing cheerleaders he’s drooling over water polo players.
Josh works out for the sake of achieving the perfect physique, but this unfortunately has him stuck in a grey area between the jocks, the geeks and the gays. He can’t identify himself with jocks, but he often finds himself too beautifully sculpted to be accepted by many in geek culture.
As a solution, Josh now strives to create his own subculture by creating more hybrids like himself. He has made it his mission to help sloppy gay geeks with bodybuilding techniques and promoting health awareness. (Some of us here at Gay Geek suspect his attempts to build a sexy muscleman army is a sign that he is secretly under the control of either Liz or Vik – or both!)
The guy who writes our Fitness Freak column as Josh’s character is suburban Melbournian boy who’s on a health kick but definitely still knows how to party.
